Our team is made of great technical talent with a diverse set of experiences with extensive backgrounds with the U.S. government and intelligence community. We have delivered solutions across a diverse set of missions, products, and platforms and use our experience to build better problem solving capabilities for our other customers.
We've found that highly qualified engineers working closely with mission and business experts is the most effective, rapid, and impactful way of solving problems. Tight feedback loops between experts, engineers, and users lets us create solutions that are on target as efficiently as possible.
We strive to help our customers achieve their goals faster, cheaper, and better, whether that’s saving lives or taxpayer dollars. Expect a better experience when working with Anthem Engineering.
Expect more IT services that directly help your business and more projects that directly help your mission.
Expect prototypes of your concepts in weeks and months, and operational versions that are iteratively delivered every week thereafter.
Expect increased communication between business lines, support groups, and customers.
We solve problems and create value through the efficient application of technology. We build capabilities by designing, developing, integrating, deploying, and maintaining complex systems. These capabilities include:
Organizations have more data available to them now than anytime before. Ingesting, storing, tagging and retrieving this information quickly and securely is difficult. Our engineers have broad experience helping customers manage floods of data and extracting valuable decision support intelligence from it.
Analytics are essential to extracting knowledge from the vast amounts of data that overwhelm many customers. Our engineers have developed data analytics that detect trends and patterns, identify anomalies, and visualize data in meaningful ways.
As an enterprise grows, information technology infrastructure must scale to meet business needs. Our engineers have experience across a wide variety of cloud services, including infrastructure, platform, and software as a service (IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS) as well as cloud storage and analytics.
Information is only valuable when in the hands of the right people at the right time. Our engineers have created knowledge management tools that facilitate sharing and collaboration as well as boost an organizations’ retention and retrieval abilities.
We use agile and lean development methodologies as part of our projects to ensure communication, adaptability, and delivery. This means that we aim to iteratively develop, demonstrate, and deploy working capabilities in repeatable cycles ranging from a week to a month. We work closely with customers, end users, and stakeholders to understand problems, explore constraints, and develop solutions. Frequent effective communication amongst these groups is key to rapidly developing successful solutions while minimizing waste.
We are not tied to a single technology. We are flexible and use the best tools to solve each customers’ problems. Our technology toolbox grows continuously. Today, it includes tools for:
Cloud computing and data analytics, such as Hadoop, Accumulo, Cloudbase, Storm, and Distillery.
Cloud service providers, such as Amazon Web Services, Cloud Foundry, and OpenShift.
Enterprise architecture, such as Ozone Widget Framework, J2EE, JMS, and JBoss.
Database and storage, such as Oracle, MySQL, Postgres.

We take great care finding knowledgeable, talented, and dedicated engineers. This is one of the primary reasons we consistently exceed our customers' expectations, but it also lets us foster a dynamic corporate culture focused on collaboration, transparency, and growth. We strive to be fun and high-energy while rewarding innovation and accomplishment. Need more reasons to apply?
We realize that we all spend a considerable amount of time at work so it had better be fun! Do work you feel good about. Our mission is to save lives and taxpayer dollars. We work to enable the mission and create reusable capabilities that can be leveraged across a diverse customer set. We're always learning new technologies, frameworks, and tools so we can use the right ones for the emerging problems. You're not just another cog in a machine. We're invested in your growth as an individual, technical and otherwise. Everyone has a voice and is valued. Small companies are important to us. We enjoy the closeness, directness, and efficiency of working in a small company environment. It’s a family!
We make extensive use of free and open-source software (FOSS) at Anthem Engineering. Software ecosystems are constantly changing, but here are some examples that you can expect to see at Anthem Engineering today.Languages and Frameworks
Even though we frequently use FOSS, the nature of our work and customers often prevents us from contributing back to the community. Still, we do our best to participate whenever we can. We were successful in creating the Ozone Widget Framework (OWF) and contributing it to the open source community and hundreds of Government entities. We strive to create and share additional capabilities for others to use. If you'd like to see some of our current work, you can visit Alex Chin or Charles Simpson's Github pages.
If this sounds like a place you'd want to be a part of, apply to our open positions.
